NAFT Federal Credit Union Presents
Scholarships
NAFT
Federal Credit Union awarded the Richard P. Light
and Leonel Barrera Memorial Scholarship to three
outstanding students from the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo
Independent School District as well as one
individual employed at the credit union. Both Mr.
Light and Mr. Barrera were firm believers in the
field of education and very involved with the school
district. They both served on the NAFT Federal
Credit Union Board of Directors for many years and
were instrumental in instituting the SPIRIT (Students
Preparing and Investing Resources In Tomorrow)
Youth Program for the credit union. The SPIRIT
Youth Program assists young members with money
management, encourages savings, and helps teach them
how to use financial services wisely. The
scholarship recipients for the 2008-2009 school year
are Amanda Carranza, P-SJ-A North HS; Tania
Rodriguez, P-SJ-A HS; Johanna Sharai Diaz, P-SJ-A
Memorial HS; and Joana Davila, NAFT FCU. |
